Portland Preps is an independent publication launched in August 2025 by Austin White covering high school sports in the Rose City.

The goal is to share and feature the stories of Portland's high school student-athletes as coverage continues to diminish at the hands of greedy media conglomerate ownership.

This site will focus primarily on schools with a legitimate Portland-proper address. Those schools include: All nine PIL schools, Central Catholic, David Douglas, St. Mary's Academy, Parkrose, De La Salle North Catholic, Portland Adventist Academy, Riverdale, Columbia Christian, Portland Christian and Mannahouse Christian Academy.

Austin is originally from Colorado where he grew up and went to Wheat Ridge High School before heading off to Colorado State University.

After graduating from CSU in 2018, Austin worked for the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper in Pueblo, Colorado for three years.

Austin's genius and beautiful wife Faviola decided to go after her doctorate degree and was accepted into the program at Portland State in 2021, prompting a move to the PNW.

Austin worked as the Managing Sports Editor for Pamplin/Carpenter Media Group from Sept. 2021 to June 2025 covering prep sports in the city of Portland along with reporting on the Portland Trail Blazers and editing duties of other papers in the media group.

In total, Austin brings seven years of high school sports reporting experience to Portland Preps, and he knows that he's still learning.
